Nice, Durable Playing Cards Jan 03, 2010
By J. Payne These cards are very well-made, with beautifully styled backs and faces, and they will definitely humiliate the cards you can buy at department stores and gas stations. I'm not a big fan of their feel, however. They're just a touch gritty in my opinion, but please bear in mind that others might like how they feel. The main reason these cards get four stars instead of five is that they're simply not as good overall as the KEM cards.
GOOD: Crisp, durable, beautiful designs front and back, lovely to look at and play with.
BAD: Gritty feel can be a turnoff. Still not up to KEM's level of quality, but Da Vinci comes closer than anyone else.

Great cards May 30, 2011

These are great cards, glide very well accross the felt, resist abuse and look very nice. What else could you want out of a deck of cards?
Excellent alternative to Kem cards Oct 14, 2011
By Violinmaster I ordered these as a replacement for a set of Kem cards. My first impressions: very plastic-like feel (unlike the acetate of Kem), bends very easily while shuffling for a very floppy feel, makes a harsh swishing sound when cards rub together, the printing is kind of chunky and cheap-looking (especially noticeable on spades), there is no actual case for the cards--just an open plastic tray and the thin cardboard box it comes in (opens on side)--so the cards slide around easily when stored and the two decks get a bit mixed, a small nuisance. The white plastic card tray is actually for poker-size cards and is too wide for the bridge-size cards. Kem cards have none of these issues and are much more refined. On the plus side these cards do seem to be pretty much bullet-proof as if they are made out of pvc plastic or something, and the back design looks nice. Today they will see some intense casino-style poker play and I will get and post feedback from other players as we try out these cards.
Update 11/7/11: everybody loves playing with these cards and likes their design and readability. I am therefore upgrading my review especially considering the great value. Kudos to Modiano for making a real contender to the more expensive Kem cards! My remark about the card tray still holds, however, and I'm not sure if the card box will hold up over time--seems flimsy. Therefore the total package you get is not quite worth a full 5-star rating in my opinion.
