Great plastic cards at a great price Jun 16, 2011
By C. Keller I've got Kem and Copag plastic cards, and have read good reviews on the Modiano and Da Vinci cards. Since I was going to buy three sets of cards for gifts, I thought this would be a good way to check these out. The bridge size jumbo index is our groups personal favorite, so this set fits nicely (About 95% of poker rooms in the U.S. use bridge size cards with a regular index).
These cards didn't come with a hard plastic case (comes standard with Kem and Copag cards). They come in a cardboard box with a plastic tray. I've seen these cards for sale with the hard shell case for just a couple bucks more. Unfortunately I couldn't find them in the bridge size jumbo index with a hard shell case.
I don't normally scrutinize the aesthetics of cards, but for this review I will try and give you as much detail as I can. My normal test would only be in the handling; shuffle a few times, deal a few cards, shuffle, deal, etc. If you've never used plastic cards before, they do handle differently than paper cards.
These are just a little thicker than the Kem and Copag decks, by about two cards, which may be why they feel just slightly stiffer when shuffling. The finish is nice. They seem to reflect a little less light than the Kem's (the less reflection the better). The print quality looks great. The blacks are nice and dark. The reds are a little lighter and a little more vibrant like the Copag's, compared to the darker blood reds of the Kem's and Modiano's. The jumbo index is bigger and bolder than the Modiano's, more like Copag and Kem.
I haven't had these long enough to know how durable they are, but considering the nice quality and low cost of these cards, I'd highly recommend trying them out. Just wish they came with a hard shell case like Kem and Copag.

Great dependable cards Mar 21, 2011

These are a great set of cards. The background isn't particularly eye-catching but the card faces are great. This is jumbo index with larger than standard pips and numerals/letters at the corners and the red suits are a bright "orangy" red and not a dark blood red. As in the picture, all the faces have a yellow box border which gives it a really nice look. The package doesn't come with cut cards but are only $13 compared to the sets with cut cards which are 2 dollars more. I have another set of plastic cards (not name brand) and these are comparatively better due to the following attributes: Face design as aforementioned, NOT slick and shiny but rougher and paperlike feel. Coming from paper cards these cards are extremely slippery to handle.
